I’m the founder, builder, designer, and janitor for Cafayo.
I made Cafayo to scratch an itch. In the era of Slack, Zoom, and big social media platforms, I have fond memories of communities run on oldschool bulletin-board software. Today, those things are a bit of a pain to setup, have issues with spam, and their feature sets are a little awkward. So I built Cafayo—the community software for the contemporary web.
Cafayo is built using a pretty standard Ruby on Rails stack, with a Postgres database. It uses Hotwire, which has been a delight to use. It’s hosted on DigitalOcean, and is deployed using Capistrano. Stripe is the payment processor.
